Djamboutou II: Eneo Cameroon supports schools and donates production equipment to local communities

.

As part of our ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), in partnership with Release by Scatec, we have officially handed over several pieces of school and production equipment to the Djamboutou II community in the North Region. This initiative is part of the social support programme implemented around the Maroua and Guider solar power plants, responding to the needs expressed by local communities.

Here are a total of 180 desk-benches, divided as follows:

  • 90 desk-benches to CETIC in Ouro Aladji;
  • 50 desk-benches to l’École publique Djamboutou II;
  • 40 desk-benches to l’École publique Ouro Aladji.

This equipment will contribute to better classroom organisation, increased comfort for learners, and improved teaching conditions. The company is thus responding to a priority need identified during field missions — overcrowding and insufficient school furniture. “Providing better learning conditions increases the chances of success for future generations,” said Ousman Bello, Regional Delegate for the Far North and representative of Eneo’s GM.

Besides the educational aspect, Eneo Cameroon also gave grain mills and oil extractors to local Community Initiative Groups (CIGs). This equipment will help to:

  • increase productivity,
  • reduce workload,
  • save time significantly for households,
  • improve income for the families concerned.

This is structural support aimed at boosting the economic capacity of the groups, in line with the priorities expressed by community leaders. “We used to spend hours grinding by hand. Now, with these mills, it will be faster, more profitable, and will enable us to feed our families better,” explains a CIG head.

All of these actions were made possible thanks to the partnership between Eneo and Release by Scatec. The cost of financing was CFA F 23.9 million. In Djamboutou II, as in other parts of the country, Eneo Cameroon is reaffirming its commitment to local development. These actions complement a series of initiatives already underway in the Far North Region, including support for schools, securing community infrastructure, improving living conditions around solar power plants, and various social initiatives carried out with community leaders.
