Maroua: A third main line constructed, underground line rehabilitated .... And it's light again.

" There is great improvement. Four months ago, to do my hair, I had to connect a generator. The fuel bills were high. Now the quality of service has improved. I can see some money ", says Christian de Paris, a hairdresser on Boulevard du Renouveau in Domayo. Domayo-Douare-Fassao-Kakatare-Grand Marché-Maroua Palace, are the neighbourhoods that are directly supplied by the new framework line built in the city.

The construction is part of the Eneo 2021 investment plan. This flagship project cost 120 million CFA francs. It increases the distribution facilities in the city of Maroua, which had only two main lines. Faced with the load increase because of population growth, the two lines of the Maroua source substation could no longer guarantee a good quality of service. " The installation of this third feeder, combined with the rehabilitation of underground cables at DRNEA (which enabled the replacement of nearly 3.5 km of underground MV cable in Maroua) maintenance projects underway (replacement of critical wood poles by concrete, installation of new transformers ....) and the supply-demand balance from Lagdo, enables a definite improvement in the city of Maroua not only in the continuity of service but also in the quality of energy served to our customers (better voltage) ," says Youssoufa Bouka, the technical delegate of DRNEA Region.

As a reminder, more than 50% of the interruptions on the distribution network of the city of Maroua were due to overloads on the main arteries of the two lines D11 and D12, but also due to the low flexibility of this network for load restoration. With the new line built, customers will see a clear improvement in the quality of service. " Obviously, with this new start, we have enough to supply more households and in this regard, we have initiated the creation of new low voltage lines in the city of Maroua in order to connect new households to the electrical network in a secure manner . The Technical delegate added.
