About the accident in Japoma on 14 August 2024
Eneo Cameroon S.A. would like to express its sympathies to the TAGNE family and their son, TAGNE William, who was seriously injured after an electric pole fell at Japoma Stade on 14 August 2024.
Eneo Cameroon immediately opened investigations as soon as they were informed of the situation. The preliminary information collected revealed that the pole in question and the related network were part of a fraudulent connection, connected directly to the distribution network, without any metering equipment or subscription, in order to supply electricity to a commercial building.
A complaint has been filed with the police and investigations have been launched to identify the perpetrators and any accomplices so as to bring them before the competent courts for justice to be served.
Eneo is continuing investigations to gather more information about the accident and the fraudulent operation.
Meanwhile, Eneo remains available to collaborate with the forces of law and order as they carry out their investigation.
Eneo strongly condemns the construction and maintenance of non-compliant electricity networks, and encourages customers to report cases of fraud by contacting the customer relations unit on 8010 or 698 280 000.
